Merry 1st Christmas!!!

I have to admit- Christmas with a child is a lot more fun (and expensive)! I'm sooooo excited for the day that he actually understands what is going on and doesn't just want to eat the wrapping paper.

He was one of two baby Jesus' at my parents house.

He got a Cat in the Hat stuffed animal that he absolutely loves! Scott had one when he was little too... Its pretty cute.

Oh yes- Did I mention Scott got a Snuggie for Christmas?!!! Here he is raising the roof just like they do in the commercial. I think it is one of his favorite gifts!
Christmas was wonderful at our house... We are so lucky to have all that we do! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
Happy New Year!

Loungin' in the tub

The other night I was giving Matix a bath and he kept putting his hands behind his head like he was loungin' at the beach. It was hilarious! He loves the tub...

This is a new favorite toy duck. Little does he know, his dad likes to kill them. We won't tell him until he's a little older. We don't want to scar him too early!

More Matix...

Matix is getting so big... TEAR! The doctor said that it was time to start cereal. I have been procrastinating it because it means that he is growing up. Scott says I am stunting his growth! So after some sleepless nights, I think Matix is telling me he is ready for cereal. We started it out this week and it was hilarious- He HATES it. Poor guy! Hopefully he will start liking it soon...

Halloween was quite the event- Matix went and saw his grandparents and cousins. I tortured him with some face make-up. It was all worth it for pictures- I'm sure he will feel the same way in a couple years!

MUMMIFIED

Thursday, October 22, 2009

'May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us.'

NEED- NOT A WANT

I need a vacation badly!!! I was looking through our pictures and saw so many fun times we have had on vacation. So I have come to the conclusion that I NEED a vacation...

Lake Powell 2008

Hawaii 2008- I was 3 months pregnant when I jumped off this cliff. My in-laws still give me the look when we talk about it. Nobody knew that I was pregnant yet and couldn't let them suspect anything! I did refrain from the rope swing though. It was the highlight of the trip!
St George with Kyler and Lynette- Good times!
Any suggestions of where we could go on our vacation?

New found LOVE-

Matix has a new found love- well 2 of them!

His hand is his 1st love. Most the time its the entire fist and sometimes he moves up the arm. He usually ends up gagging himself but it doesn't take long for him to be back at it again.

His next love is his jumper- if he can have his hand and his jumped together it's even better. His feet don't always touch the floor though- it depends on how much he ate that day.

This is my LOVE- how could you not kiss this face a million times a day??!!!

SOOOO SMART

This weekend Scott has been telling Matix how smart he is. Last night Scott said "You are SOOO smart" and Matix full on laughed at him. Every time Scott says it Matix laughs. Its pretty cute- Really I think he is just laughing at his daddy's cheesy face and thinking "my dad is such a dork!"

Summer Fun

Matix and I have been spending our summer days up at Cherry Hill. Although Matix usually sleeps most the time, he will at least make a couple rounds on the lazy river. He actually loves the water...
I must also add that Matix had his first set of shots this week. It was way sad...but he survived. He was also weighed and measured. His weight is in the 50th percentile while his head size is in the 85th. I guess he is going to be VERY smart!!! I still think he is the cutest ever.

Photoshoot

So in all my research of photographers, I found it to be quite the expense. As an alternative, I recruited my sister to help me get some photos of our little family before Matix is too big to be naked in his pictures! A couple Saturdays ago we got some pretty cute pics of my little man! I also did some of my own the day before- all was going well and Matix was posing perfectly. At one point he got really calm and laid his head down. I thought he was just tired of being on his belly and his mom being cheesier than ever- I quickly realized he was peeing and it was dripping down the ottoman. I was obviously taking too long and the chilly air was affecting Matix's need to mark his territory!!

If you look close you can see the puddle-

These are in his room- I couldn't get rid of the blinds in the background.

These are in our room-I think they turned out pretty cute! Thanks Ang and Scott for being such a good sports! Matix you are darling- I'll keep you!

Lovin the Bike

Matix loves bike rides- It is really funny to watch his face. He is so concerned about what is going on around him. Most of the bike ride his eyes are really big, the rest of the time he is sleeping. Yesterday after our ride, he was smiling ear to ear.
We went to the doctor yesterday and he weighs 11lbs 3oz. He is a chunky little boy- it is kind of sad that he is getting so big already!

The Latest

Being the crafty person I am (ha ha), I decided to make Matix's name for his room...

Matix has started smiling- It is the cutest thing ever. I have been trying to get a picture of it but every time I get out my camera he stops. This is the best I could get...

Matix is also balding. I knew he was but realized it even more when I looked at some of the pictures from the hospital. I have been a little bit devastated by it but now know what he will look like when he is elderly!...

He is totally an old man!

Matix and I are finally on some what of a schedule. It is a beautiful thing! It has made things so much more manageable. I love my little monkey!...

My favorite picture of them all. My brother Mike and his 5 kids came to visit this past week. We had a really good time and all of his kids were pretty excited to hold Matix. Especially Gabrielle- Check out that smile!...

Motherhood

So I thought I would be a better mom and share with you all more pictures than just one of my little monkey. Today has been a rough one dealing with excess fluids! Matix peed on me this morning (not the first time) and poohed on me a couple days ago. After he peed on me he had an explosion that called for a bath. He actually likes the bath so it was really only torture for me. Here is a picture of him out of the bath-

It has been a major adjustment for Scott and I to have Matix in our lives- a good adjustment. Scott absolutely loves him and is such a proud father. All of Matix's cousins love him and LOVE to hold him- sometimes maul him. It gets easier every day and I think I'm pretty luck to be the mom of such a beautiful baby. Here are more pictures...

Matix Jay Black

Our little guy finally arrived! Matix was born on June 18th. He weighed 7lbs 12 oz and was 20 inches long. We have had an eventful 6 days but things look like they are calming down. He was sent to Primary Childrens 2 days after his birth for suregery. He had whats called Laryngomalacia. This is when there is extra skin that blocks your airway. The surgery went well and our little guy can finally cry without turning purple. We came home yesterday and he spent his first night in his own bed!!

Labor was pretty intense but I am so happy that he is finally here. I never realized how much you could love someone at first sight. Scott is such a proud dad and I am happy to say that he has changed more diapers than I have at this point.

Matix is beautiful and such a good baby! We are proud parents to say the least...

NOT HERE YET!

The babe is still not here. He just doesn't want to come to this world yet. I had an appointment on Wednesday and my doctor said that I will have testing on Monday to make sure everything is okay. If it is, than I am scheduled to be induced on Wednesday. HOPEFULLY, I have him on my own before all of that! So the latest our little guy will be here is Thursday the 18th. Any suggestions to get this thing going would be helpful. I've been trying all the tricks. I thought I would post these two pictures of the belly at the begining and today. Enjoy! It's just slightly bigger!!!! More on the blacksters later...

A lot to Blog about

So since my last post, I have had three showers with family and friends. I am so lucky to have such great people around me who are so willing. THANK YOU SO MUCH ALL OF YOU!!! Thanks to all of those who came to the showers as well. It was a lot of fun. My little monkey has a closet full of clothes already! This may be a bad sign of whats to come.

I have more picture but could not fit them. So I hope no one feels left out! I love you all.

Scott and I just returned from The Blue Boar Inn in Midway. We celebrated our 6th year anniversary early, knowing that we would likely have a baby come June 12th. (At least we better!) It was a lot of fun. We swam in the Crater at the Homestead and ate yummy food on Main Street in Park City. It was relaxing and enjoyed every minute of time with my hubby. I still cannot believe it has been 6 years. We were talking about all the things we have done in that time. It made me realize how much can happen in 6 years and how lucky we are to have each other! I love you babe and can't wait to spend 6 more with you!

Baby Update: At my last Doctors appointment I was tested for Group B Strep and will get the results next time. The guess is that our baby is 7 lbs. He is active and I continue to have Braxton Hicks and false labor contractions. We have about 19 more days. I am hoping for sooner but we'll take him whenever as long as he's healthy! Scott is getting more and more excited about the little guy. I feel as BIG as ever and don't think my stomach will strech much more. More on the blacksters later...
